Cahaba Prison held Union prisoners of war, many from Indiana, and was known for having one of the lowest death rates of any Civil War prison camp. At the same time, over 1700 Confederate soldiers were held in Indianapolis at Camp Morton. Spend the evening hearing from historians Gene Salecker and Fred Schaefer as they discuss the camps, the prisoners, and the ties to Crown Hill Cemetery.
Speaker Series is held in our Gothic Chapel, reached through our 34th Street Gothic Gate entrance at 3402 Blvd. Place, Indianapolis.
